The first and second stimulus amounts were reported on the 2020 income tax return last year.
This year, the IRS wants you to report how much third stimulus you received on your tax return. The is important because if you didn't get your full credit, any missing amounts will be added to your refund as a Recovery Rebate Credit.
TurboTax will ask you about this. If you want to jump to that section:
To get to the stimulus section in TurboTax online:
- Type "stimulus" in Search in the upper right
- Click "Jump to stimulus"
- TurboTax will ask whether the amount your eligible for matches what you got.
- If it doesn't, say NO
- TurboTax will let you enter what you actually received and add the extra to your refund
