Where do I input "property taxes paid"? There is a place to input this with my mortgage info, but the pop-up box says not to input it here.

I am entering home loan information. This page has places to input Box 2, Box 3, and Box 5 info.  It also has a box for "Property Taxes Paid." However, directly under this box is a hyperlink with the question, "Where do I enter my property taxes?"  When I click on this link, a pop-up box opens that says, "If you paid real estate (property) taxes through an escrow account, you need to report this amount in Property Taxes, not here."

**Do I enter the information here and another location in TurboTax?

**Do I enter in another location and NOT here?

If your property taxes were paid through escrow and reported on your 1098 form, you can report it along with your 1098 form.

Or you can report it in the property taxes section, but not both places. I personally, like to keep it in its own location. To report in the property taxes section:

  • In your open return, select My Account
  • Tools
  • Topic Search
  • Type 'property taxes' in the box, then select GO
