Where do I input my dependent's 1095-A information? My dependent received a 1095-A form. Turbotax only has a section to input a 1095-A form for myself.

Are you all on the same policy?  If so, under Part II you would list each person that is covered on the policy.

No, I have insurance through my job. My dependent had her own government funded health plan.

My response was accidentally posted before I was done.

To enter multiple 1095-A in TurboTax follow these steps:

  • In your return, click on Federal Taxes
  • Click on Health Insurance
  • Make a selection on the "Did you all have health insurance coverage in 2016?" page and click on Continue
  • On the "Was anyone enrolled in any of these less common plans in  2016?" page, select Yes and click on Continue
  • On the What type of plan were you enrolled in?" page, select Obamacare plan (1095-A) and click on Continue
  • Add the information for your first Form 1095-A
  • At the Here's what we have for your 1095-As" page, click Add Another button, and follow the above steps to enter your second

You still need to go in and complete the 1095-A based on the 1095-A that your dependent received.   You still enter it the same way.

Question - Is your Dependent filing their own return?   If so, the 1095-A should be reported on their tax return.   Just so you know, you may end up having to pay back any premium tax credit your dependent received because the credit is going to be based on the income reported in your return.   If there was no premium tax credit, then you do not need to worry about this.
