I'm on the page (online) where it says "Let's review your information" This is just before exiling. I have checked name, address, and son. Where do I find the date of birth on the filing forms to be sure it is correct?
The date of birth does not appear on the actual filed forms. It is just used to determine your eligibility for certain credits, exemptions, and deductions.
Well, pretty useless to tell me to check it on the form before filing, isn't it? DUMB
Check your personal info like date of birth under My Info on the left.
very dumb. It says the check your RETURNS for the date of birth. I suggest you guys fix this because date of birth doesnt appear on returns. confusing.
I agree - I just wasted time trying to find our dates of birth on the forms - glad I checked here - oh well, I guess I shouldn't complain - I took the instructions too literally.
what a waste of time! Stop telling people to find this before filing
I couldn't agree more. Such a small thing but such a big annoyance - especially when one feels under pressure! "For want of a nail..." and all that. Aside from that, keep up the good work TurboTax! My returns have been filed and accepted - the $ I owe has been taken out of my bank account - (Direct Debit) - all went smoothly (except for the nit above :-(. Good job overall!!
Say what you mean, TurboTax. This is the time and place for precision of language. Hire yourselves an editor for chrissakes.
It's not on the Federal form, but I did see it (not listed as "date of birth" but just the numbers) underneath the address on one of the first pages of my state return (California).
You should fix the wording as it seems to be a known issue for more than a year and confuses anyone who files and takes the instructions serious. Pretty silly language.
Fix this. This is not the time nor place to confound your users. Okay, there is actually no time nor place in which you should confound your users. We're going to come here and find out, and that makes Intuit look stupid.
People have been complaining about this for a year but they have yet to correct it...amazing.
THANK YOU. Glad somebody said being told to check it on the form is useless. Since it specifically says make sure your date of birth is correct - But IT ISN'T ACTUALLY ON THE 1040. I spent 20 minutes going over both forms looking for it only to find out it doesn't go on the form. TurboTax needs to clarify that and mention that it doesn't appear on the filed papers but the IRS uses it to verify your identity.
