When will the 3rd stimulas screening be added to the turbotax software? I had a child born in 2020, the first 2 stimulas checks are in there but not the 3rd.

TurboTax cannot track your 3rd stimulus or tell you when it will arrive.  The IRS is issuing 3rd stimulus checks on its own timetable.

You can use the IRS Get My Payment site to see what is expected for your 3rd stimulus check:

The third stimulus payment won't be claimed on the 2020 tax return. The IRS will send the third stimulus payment separately.

The third round of Economic Impact Payments will be based on the taxpayer's latest processed tax return from either 2020 or 2019. If the IRS has received and processed a taxpayer's 2020 return, the agency will instead make the calculation based on that return.

You can check IRS Get My Payment for your status.

  • If you have an adjusted gross income (AGI) under $75,000 ($150,000 married filing jointly), you will be eligible for the full $1,400 stimulus payment.
  • Payments will begin to be reduced for individuals making $75,000 or above in AGI ($150,000 for married filing jointly.)
  • Once your AGI reaches $80,000 for individuals ($160,000 married filing jointly) you will be ineligible for a payment.

"Unlike the first two payments, the third stimulus payment is not restricted to children under 17. Eligible families will get a payment based on all of their qualifying dependents claimed on their return, including older relatives like college students, adults with disabilities, parents and grandparents" (IRS).

So if my child did not receive the $1400 Stimulas it will have to be claimed on the 2021 tax return?  We are getting the first two payments (total of $1100) on this year's tax return.

They based our stimulas payment on 2019 since we hadn't filed yet and our child was born in 2020.

It is based on 2020, so I believe the IRS will send the additional funds for the third stimulus after reviewing your 2020 return.

@sgtkyler - that is correct; if you don't get the $1400 now, you have to claim it on the 2021 tax return, similar to how you claimed the 1st two.

Babies born in 2021 get the same treatment; their parents can get the $1400 on their 2021 tax return
