When will my credit card be charged by the IRS after e-filing?

I wasn't presented with an option of when the tax due amount was to be charged to my credit card.  I just want to know when the charge of "my IRS tax due" to my credit card will take place.

The payment is posted to your credit card immediately after e-filing.  I found this out after e-filing.  I thought that it might be some date in the future after the tax return has been accepted by the IRS.  But no, the tax due amount is charged to your credit card (when you choose to pay your tax due by credit card) immediately after e-filing.

If the e-filing is "rejected" by the IRS, then the credit card shows the amount as "pending". If you eventually get the e-filing "accepted", I assume the payment is now "posted" and it will show up on your credit card statement. In my case, we could not correct the e-file so we filed a mail return. Eventually, (just a few days after the filing deadline), the "pending" charge was removed from the credit card account.

Intuit shows that the IRS 'accepted' the Federal Return and yet, my credit card has not been charged. ????

I am in the same boat- and I have called, but no one has answered at the IRS.  Very frustrating!

In the FILE tab step 2 you get the options on how to pay the balance due ... now that it is after the 4/18 deadline the ONLY option for a direct debit date is TODAY ... you cannot set up a date in the future.  The payment will be processed by the IRS within a couple of days of the IRS accepting the return for processing... sometimes longer but don't bank on it being longer.   If you cannot pay the full balance due now then choose to mail a  check in the program then either send a partial payment or go online and make a direct payment.  www.IRS.gov/pay

Did you ever get your answer to this? It’s year 2023 and I just filed and was accepted but still not showing  that it has charged my card? want to make sure I’m not left owing the IRS thinking my card is waiting to be charged. Thanks
