Go to forms instead of step-by-step. On list of forms on your left, you will see the errors marked with a red exclamation mark.
Click on that form to open it. See if you can fix the error there. In your case you are looking for your state forms which will be at the bottom of the list.
If all else fails, when you open the worksheet, you can delete it and fill out a new form. Click continue state return.
I had to do this for a few errors, both federal and state. Works well once you figure it out. Took me days. I hope I saved you some time.
