When I introduced home usage for work and there has been no change in my balance, why?

Declaring jointly, married, with children, no mortgage, permanet use of 40sf out of 900sf for work. My deduction still remained at the same level as when the other aspects were declared.

Your question is short on relevant details, but I am assuming that you are claiming business use of a home office as an employee, not as a self-employed person. If this is correct, the deductions for your home office become miscellaneous itemized deductions, and will only have an impact of your tax due/refund if you itemize deductions.

Since you mention that you have no mortgage, I am willing to guess that you do not have enough deductions to itemize, as mortgage interest and real estate taxes are the two big itemized deductions for most taxpayers. This would mean that you are taking the standard deduction; your home office expenses will have no effect on your taxes.
