When filing a state return by mail, does the copy of the federal return that accompanies it need to be signed as well?

Due to a glitch of the turbo tax software not being able to attach a federal return copy to our state returns, I am forced to mail in my state return.  I have signed the state return, but do I need to sign the physical copy of the federal paperwork that accompanies the state return?

It is probably not necessary, but I always sign all the forms when submitting to the state.  It only takes a minute to do.

If your state return was rejected with the message that your federal return must be submitted, this is a known issue that we are working to resolve.  You can sign up for notifications and updates related to this issue in the below TurboTax help article:
State rejection. Federal return must be submitted.

Please try to file once more, the issue has been resolved. That is why the above link is no longer working,

Please let us know if you are having the same issue.

Thanks, but too late.  I already printed it to mail and now I can't submit it electronically.  Every tech I speak to seems to have different information.  This year has been the worst year yet for me using turbo tax.
