What should I put as the residency state if my spouse lived in British Columbia, Canada?

To answer question No. 2 on "Your Spouse's personal info"

Foreign address

DanP0428 is correct. You'll need to enter a foreign address. A foreign address won't ask your spouse's resident state.

  1. In TurboTax, navigate to My Info, Personal info summary screen and select Edit next to your spouse. Go to 2. Tell us the state(s) you lived in and select Foreign or U.S Possession from the drop down list (it's all the way at the bottom).
  2. Select the Continue button at the bottom.
  3. Select Edit next to  Mailing Address and choose Foreign country from Type of mailing address drop down list.
  4. Input your address in the appropriate fields, select your country from the drop down list, and select Continue.
