I put much of an inheritance into 5% CDs. Great income, but the tax hit is huge. As they mature I want to purchase ETFs to appreciate while I do ROTH conversions. I expect to live off of income I can generate from the inheritance until starting SS and pension at 70. What characteristics should I look for in an ETF to maximize income while minimizing taxes?
