What should I do if I mistakenly fill W4 as NRA? What should I do If I mistakenly fill W4 as RA?

Is there any procedures I need to do if I make my tax filing status wrong?

For example, if I'm supposed to be RA, but I thought I'm NRA when I fill the W4 form. I realized this mistake in the tax season after one year. Is there anything I can do to to make up the FICA? Is there any punishment of it?

Vice Versa, can I chase my FICA back if I fill the W4 form as RA, but I realize I should be NRA in the tax season after one year?

Thanks!

If you filed your W-4 with your employer incorrectly, you need to get with your Human Resource Department to file a correct one.  Here is helpful information from the IRS that may help you in completing your W-4. W-4 Instructions
