What % of income is claimed filing single after a divorce?

I recently divorced in 2023 (while married we filed jointly). Since I will be filing single on my 2023 tax return, do I claim 100% of my income for the entire year even though my divorce was only final in September?

Your filing status (single, married....) is determined as of December 31 of the tax year.  So if you were divorced before the end of 2023, then you file Single for 2023.   (Or...if you are the custodial parent of the children, maybe head of household....do you need more information about that?)

Hello Julie,

You would include all your income for the year on your tax return and file as single unless you have a dependent living with you then you would file head of houehold
