Any refund is based on your total tax payments and your total tax liabilities.  If your total tax payments are greater than your total tax liabilities you will receive a tax refund for the overpayment.

No one can tell you what your refund will be without you first completing a tax return.

$7600 + your withholding (if any). The money you hear about people getting for just filing a tax return claiming kids requires you to  have some earned income (wages or self employment). Without earned income, you are not eligible for the "refundable" Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit. If you are a full time student, there's a possibility of another $1000.
