What is the difference between federal income wages and federal income tax and should my wages be zero?

No, your wages would only be zero if you did not have any income from an employer.

 

Federal wages include salaries, bonuses, awards and prizes the employer pays to the employee throughout the year.

 

Federal Income is the tax you owe after all deductions and credits have been taken against your income.
