TC40W is Utah TC-40 Withholding Schedule. You must report Utah withholding tax from the following forms on the TC-40W, Part 1:

  • Federal form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement
  • Federal form 1099 (with Utah withholding), including 1099-R, 1099-MISC, 1099-G, etc.

Where on TurboTax can I edit this form? The final review keeps telling me that the Payer ID is incorrect, and I can't get to the form to check it.

For payer ID:  The Utah withholding account number is a 14-character number. The first eleven characters are numeric and the last three are “WTH.” Do not enter hyphens. Example: 12345678901WTH. The form will NOT accept any other version for payer id.

Technical is working on the UT 529 connection. There has not been a problem with regular withholding.  You can fill this form out for someone to call you. Another set of eyes may be needed.

We have that, the issue is that Turbo tax is requiring 15 characters.

I am also struggling with the TC40W! It keeps telling me that I must go back and update the employer/payer state withholding ID. Intuit automatically put this W2 in for me. I have tried and tried to go back and fix it. Has anyone figured out how to fix this problem?!

Just go back to the W2 Form and retype it without any spaces or dashes, it should just work fine.

I tried it wit no dashes or spaces, while on a live chat with a Turbo Tax specialist. It didn’t work either.

Looks like there were some other letters that were placed before the numbers. I had to remove them and then it worked for me.

Read the directions for each line to see what numbers go on each line.  If you are still having problems with your form, you can sign in to TurboTax on a browser, Go to Tax Tools, Tools, Delete a form, and delete the copy of TC-40 that is causing you to have errors. The system will then create a new copy of the form and you can continue to file.

When adding the "wth" make sure it is lower case then it will work.
