What is a federal EIN #? I’m an independent personal trainer and this is the first year I’m filing self-employment taxes

Is this a required component of the return?  Thanks in advance for the help.

No, you don't need an EIN, an Employer Identification Number for your self-employment work.  Please see a previous on-point TurboTax response below by TurboTaxGeoffreyG, "Do I need a EIN number if I am self-employed?"
