What is your question about the What -If worksheet?  It is only available in the Desktop program.  If you have the Desktop program, Go to Forms Mode, click Forms in the upper right or on the left for Mac. Then click Open Forms box in the top of the column on the left. Open the US listing of forms and towards the bottom find the What-if worksheet. It's right under Estimated Taxes.

My question is, will the WHAT IF WORKSHEET be updated for the new tax laws in the 2024 desk top version?

@MICKEY79 It is unlikely that the "what if" feature of 2024 software will be updated for the newly passed tax laws that have no effect whatsoever on 2024 returns.  The new tax laws affect your 2025 and/or 2026 and beyond returns.   The 2025 software will become available in late November, and will require many updates.

So you saying that the  WHAT IF WS  in TURBO TAX 2024 is useless since it cannot be used to estimate 2025 taxes. This doesn't sound like a good marketing approach to me.

@MICKEY79 The 2024 software was written to prepare 2024 tax returns under the tax laws as they existed ---long before the  very new tax bill was signed into law.   It is somewhat unrealistic to expect the 2024 software to be hastily rewritten for new tax laws that do not affect 2024 returns.

If there are specific things that you are concerned about for your upcoming 2025 return, you might want to attend the "Ask the Experts" event that is happening on August 6----tax experts will be available to reply to your questions about the newly signed tax bill.

You can work around some of the 2024 limitations.  Like if you are running up on the $10,000 limit on state and property tax deductions you can enter the additional 30,000 under Charity deductions to get the full 40,000 deduction for itemized on Schedule A.
