Doesn't matter. When you enter your W-2 information into the turbotax program, you will enter the address on the W-2 "exactly" as it appears on the W-2. If what you enter in the program doesn't match the copy of the W-2 your employer sent to the IRS, this will delay your return and may result in an audit.
The address on your W-2 has nothing to do with the address you entered under the "personal information" tab. It's a totally and completely separate thing.
This doesn't appear to be true. Turbo tax automatically puts your permanent address on the w-2 form. No way to change it that I've found.
Things very well may have changed since I posted my above answer over a year ago. But you can change it, if you delete the W-2 and then re-enter it manually. But for now, leave it as it was imported. I would be interested to know if it's accepted or not when you e-file.
My employer sent my w2, was accepted with a wrong typo address and i filed my taxes with the correct address where i have lived for only a year and my stuff was accepted. Now im still waiting for my return after 14 days. When check the irs website it says they cant provide info when i call says the same. Ive been having badluck for the past 3 months so im not surprised with all the issues im having.
