The taxpayer address displayed on your tax return
is the one which the IRS (or state revenue department) is going to send you
correspondence, should they need to contact you.
So, if you haven't filed your return yet, it is in your interest to provide the address where the IRS or state
revenue can best reach you, should they need to - that would be your current mailing address.
In future, should you have an address change to report to the IRS, you can provide the IRS with your updated mailing
address by mailing Form 8822, Change of Address to the IRS Service
Center designated for your location.
