We use Deluxe for our joint state and fed returns but this year our son will need to do 1040EZ. Do we need two different accounts?

Can we use one account for the whole family?

Yes you need 2 different accounts.  If he qualifies for the 1040EZ he can do that online at Turbotax.com on the federal free edition.
