We got charged a 54.00 convince fee by the IRS, I did not see this anywhere when I filed my taxes on line with TurboTax. Is this something new?

Is the IRS now charging a connivence fee to file on line? When  did this start?

Did you use a credit card to pay your taxes?  The government is prohibited by law from paying the credit card company's service fee.

If you paid federal taxes owed by credit card there is a convenience fee as posted on the IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-your-taxes-by-debit-or-credit-card

Otherwise, where are you seeing this convenience fee from the IRS?
