********This deduction has been suspended for most taxpayers  for tax years 2018-2024***********************

TurboTax will change the form from 2106EZ to 2106 only if you:

  • use actual vehicle expenses, OR
  • were reimbursed by your employer for any expense claimed

If you qualify to use 2106EZ, that is what TurboTax will prepare for you.  Per the IRS

''You can file Form 2106-EZ, Unreimbursed Employee Business Expenses, provided you were an employee deducting ordinary and necessary expenses for your job and you:

  • Use the standard mileage rate (if claiming vehicle expense), and
  • Weren't reimbursed by your employer for any expense (amounts your employer included in box 1 of your Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, aren't considered reimbursements for this purpose).
