W2G and Schedule K withholding review

turbotax asking to review withholding for form w2g and schedule k1 when I don't have any gambling winnings and have already answered no to receiving schedule k and didn’t add no W2G form. There’s no form w2g or schedule k1 to delete so don’t know why it pops this message.

I have checked the file, and when I run the errors check, it does not bring up the W2G or Schedule K1 error.  It states, "Congratulations! We reviewed your federal return and found no errors."  Have you completed an update recently?  If not, do an update and see if you get the same error.  If you have, try this manual update. Sometimes, the online update checks do not go through:

If you are still having issues after running the update, please respond and let us know.

Are you using TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop? Have you added W2G or Schedule K in prior years?

I have the same issue with Desktop Turbo Tax Premier. I've never had a W-2G or a schedule K-1 in my life.

The only forms I have are 1040 (with Schedule D) and Forms 8949. 1040 line 1g for reporting W-2G income is blank. Schedule D lines 5 and 12 for reporting K-1 gains/losses are also blank. I don't know why Turbo Tax thinks I reported withholdings from a W-2G or K-1.

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign into your online account.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response.

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)

Thanks, I have finished my returns. I redid the return and no more errors.

@BrittanyS

I just did the automatic updates and still get the same warning during the analysis section. Then I installed the manual updates in the link and still get the warning. Did you use the online version or the desktop version?
