Use 999-88-9999 in the SSN field inside Turbo Tax. White that out when you print the completed returns and hand-write "Applied For" in the SSN field

Please remove this number from Turbo Tax Online after you have printed the returns- leave the input blank, even if it messes with your numbers. You are not efiling the return, and you can go back in and update with your real numbers after you get them. Although this ITIN number is unlikely to be owned by a real person at this time, we do not want another taxpayer's potential data in your return.

We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?

Sure,

I got married to an alien resident spouse who would not be immigrated until the process is completed for another 3 years. so I still had to file with a married status I chose the ssn 9,9,9, 98,9,9,9,9 and filed electronically. and now it is approved and I just do not want anything to be wrong so should I be fine ? or do I need to do anything

Yes, you need to print your return, then mail it with the following entry in the social security number (SSN)/ individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) spot.

  • 'Nonresident Alien or (NRA)

Follow the instructions below for filing this return correctly.  It's not likely you actually did get an accepted return at the IRS.

Change your return to paper and TurboTax will provide the address.
