IRS gave me a 6-digit PIN, but Turbotax only allows a 5-digit PIN. thus IRS rejected me b/c of PIN mismatch.
No matter in regular Software UI or in Form UI, every time when I type in the 6th digit, the system will immediately show the error message as in the image below, and the 6th digit can't be recorded to the system.
To enter, edit or delete a 6 digit IP PIN
Or enter ip pin in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to ip pin

I am running same situation. TurboTax only allow 5-digit PIN and IRS has six digits. My tax return reject two times. It does not make sense to get TurboTax for next year.

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Other Tax Situations
Scroll down to Other Return Info
On Identity Protection PIN, click the start button
The 5 digit PIN in the e-file section of the program is any 5 digits you select. It has no relationship to the IP PIN you received from the IRS.
