Uber sent me a 1099-K form. TurboTax lists Cryptocurrency as 1099-K and I can't select Uber from any of the lists. Uber is not my cryptocurrency I was driving for them

Did Uber screw up by sending me a 1099-K form instead of a W-2? I know working with Uber is a "independent contractor" type of thing and requires a different form but TurboTax is only allowing Cryptocurrencies as 1099-K forms. I need help.

No.  Uber did not screw up  by sending you a 1099-K.

To enter your 1099-K from Uber follow these steps:

Federal

  1. Income and Expenses
  2. Show More next to Self-Employment
  3. Start next to Self-Employment
  4. Yes, to you have any self-employment income or expenses
  5. Enter the type of self-employment work you do and you can select that you use your name for your business
  6. Click through a few more screens and you will get to a screen that says "Your XX info"
  7. Click Looks good
  8. Then you will come to a screen that says Let's enter the income for your business.  It will give you the option of 1099-NEC or Other self-employed income including the 1099K , cash and checks.  Here is where you will enter the money you receive.
  9. If you do not select one, it will not let you enter your income
  10. Enter your self-employment income on the next screen
  11. Continue and on the next screen click add expenses
