TurboTax says my Virginia state return is complete and ready to file. However, when I go to E-File it says "You haven't finished this return yet...."

TurboTax says my Virginia state return is complete and ready to file. However, when I go to E-File it says "You haven't finished this return yet.  Return to your Virginia program to finish, and then you should be able to file".  My federal return has been marked as "Accepted" by the IRS.  

What gives?  If I go back to the VA process, in several clicks I am done again and it says, again, that I am done with my return.  Is this a TurboTax error?  My forms do not have any open (!) on any of them.

Hi,

It seems like a software issue. I had fairly a similar situation where TurboTax would not let me e-file it. It went into a loop saying "Check for updates and re-file", many times over. With no know help from TurboTax, I downloaded the state again (Go to Online, in the drop down menu, select Download State." after downloading the state (it did not affect my state data), I was able to e-file with no additional problems. Hope this helps, although the problems are not exactly the same.

Try updating the software to see if that resolves the issue. 

How do I troubleshoot TurboTax Desktop program updates?
