Turbotax says I need to mail in Form 8453 along with Form 8949 or an acceptable | Continuation Sheet for Schedule D but no Form 8453 was generated when I e-filed

If the Form 8453 didn't print, you can go to https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8453.pdf  and print the form.  Fill out, check the box next to "Form 8949, Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets (or a statement with the same information), if you elect not to report your transactions electronically on Form 8949" and then mail to IRS along with a copy of your Form 1099-B to the address in the instructions.

I'll manually fill out the form. Is it possible that the form not being printed was a bug? How do we submit bug reports?

The best option to report software issues is by using this link to contact a representative who can explore the issue, get all the details and report it directly.

I printed Form 8453 and my Form 8949 pages before I e-filed. However, after I e-filed there was a box on the page I then saw in TurboTax that wasn’t clear, but looked as though I needed to do something to finish filing (sorry I don’t remember what it said). I clicked on it and it printed Form 8453 (but not the 8949 pages). So it is an additional step, but maybe not obvious as you were completing your filing and printing a paper copy for your files. You can also go into the forms that make up your file and print Form 8453.
After some research and being a bit baffled by whether I need to send something with Form 8453, having electronically filed form 8949 (the info on Form 8453 might be read to say I don’t need to send anything), I gather it is the support documents for the e-filed Form 8949 that I need to send in. That confusing lack of additional instructions on Form 8453 is an IRS flaw, not TurboTax’s, but it would be a great opportunity for TurboTax to step in and clarify or explain to its users what needs to be filed with the Form 8453 even if a Form 8949 has been e-filed.

I had same issue - the system printed Form 8453, but not 8949.  Form 8949 was filled out in the return, but apparently not sent electronically, thus the need to manually send it in.  Why???  Why would this not be part of the electronic filing???  Why would TurboTax not automatically print 8949 with 8453 if that is what is required???  I finally found Form 8949 and printed it - sent it in manually, but I have no idea if this is what is required.  Sounds like a Turbo Tax flaw.

The 8949 was filed electronically, you send it in with the other paperwork so the IRS can coordinate it all. The form should have printed for you to mail. That is odd.

Still don't understand what needs to be done.

I understand that I need to send in the form 8453, but WHAT am I sending to the IRS if the Form 8949 box is ticked on that form? (The entire consolidated forms 1099 from my brokerage?)
