Thanks. After I make a payment, do I still need to mail form to IRS?
You can e-file the return yet. the payment form does not need to be mailed
Does the check have to be postmarked or just noted for today?
If you are paying on the IRS website, you do not mail a check at all. That's just the way to get the efile of the tax return to work.
I'm confused. TurboTax won't let you e-file without selecting a payment option. What option are we supposed to select if we direct pay via the IRS website?
So wait... I payed $129 for turbotax and it won't let me file my taxes/pay today?
im so confused....i paid today via direct deposit but it says that the return is pending until April 17. Will i be charged a late fee?
i already paid today via direct deposit but it says it wont get there until april 17. should i pay again on the irs website today?
FWIW, I ended up selecting "Mail a check" in my payment option, paying via the IRS Direct Pay site, and completing my e-filing. I believe this is what's being suggested above.
Definitely pretty lame of TurboTax not to make this clearer.
Oh, and the "live help" I paid for was of course not an available option, and instead just redirected me to search this forum.
Same question (or, it seems, complaint at this point) as others. Did all the TurboTax and specified 4/15/2019 as pay date. Then forced to change it to 4/16/2019 at the last screen in order to file. The page says something like "you have to indicate a day at least one day in the future" AND "choose 4/15 or earlier to avoid penalties …" So, filing and paying through TurboTax is really only possible through 4/14, apparently.
An answer for TurboTax help to just not use TurboTax is not helpful.
"FWIW, I ended up selecting "Mail a check" in my payment option, paying via the IRS Direct Pay site, and completing my e-filing. I believe this is what's being suggested above."
Thanks, Matt. That sounds like the answer if anyone hasn't just punted and selected 4/16. Unfortunately, that's what I did. It was essentially the LAST screen in the process.
Anyone know if it is possible to cancel the TurboTax direct pay (in order to use the functional IRS site)? All the searches I do seem to indicate it is not possible (although this question is not directly answered anywhere).

In this case, if I now decide to pay the IRS directly on April 15th through the link provided, how do I stop TurboTax from also making the debit on my account on April 16th? (this is my case because I ended up filing my return with the request for the debit on April 16th since it was not allowing me to set it up for April 15th)
According to other page below, we can work around it by changing the payment date to 4/16 and then efile. With this workaround, are we sure we won't get any penalty from IRS?

"work around
At this time we suggest to change the date to 4/16/19 and select to Efile your return as normal"
@MichaelL1 Hi this is slightly off topic but your answers resonate with me so...
For the purpose of updating direct deposit information with the IRS, is it possible to e-file with Turbotax Deluxe and enter my current routing info even though I'm not receiving a refund?
Thanks in advance.
