TurboTax desktop will not let me delete my W4

I wanted to see the process for filing a new W-4 form, but then decided I do not want to include it in my tax returns. TurboTax is now autogenerating the W-4 forms along with Estimated Tax Payment vouchers and options. I have gone to the "form view" and tried deleting all the forms multiple times, but they keep autogenerating back up. Please help, I do not know how else to ensure these forms are not included in my tax return, and the only solution I have otherwise would be to start my taxes all over from the beginning. I am using the CD TurboTax Home & Business program.

Ok...

#1)  you can just ignore them entirely.   Those forms are not e-filed even if they get printed out.  In order for them to do anything at all , you would have to actually submit them separately ....the W-4 to your employer (on paper), and the 1040ES to the IRS...several ways.....BUT none of them are ever actually e-filed...so the employer & the IRS do not even know they were generated.

#2)   anyhow...one way to get rid of them (I haven't tried total elimination).

In Forms Mode

2a)  Open the "Es & W4 Wksh" .  In the "Choose the Method...." box.....put a X in "By making estimated tax payments" selection

2b)  Open the "Est Tax Options"  sheet.   go to the box labeled "Prepare Estimated Tax Vouchers" ....and click on the selection for "No, do not prepare estimated tax vouchers".

Save your file...and now, neither the W-4, nor the Estimated tax vouchers will be prepared/printed as a part of your tax file

Just want to respond that this doesn't work and this is what I tried. Turbo Tax won't let me delete the "estimated tax options" worksheet no matter how many times I click "delete form".

@atchan

Only the "Es & W4 Wksh" can be deleted entirely in Forms Mode....(as long as you are not in the middle of the W4 preparation interview)

Beyond that,  you didn't really try my #2 advice...In "Forms Mode".

Look at picture below.

You leave the Est Tax Options worksheet alone...but you check a box IN that worksheet , and that checkbox stops the preparation of 1040ES Est Tax Vouchers.

Hi, I had the same issue, and this support document helped me to delete all related W-4 forms.

In a nutshell, open the form you want to delete in forms mode, then click on the forms menu and click remove "Form name" this is for turbotax desktop on a Mac. There are also instructions for Windows users.

My issue with that is: After I open the form: (my software is Turbotax 2023 Premier)

1: I have to assume what “forms mode” means. I’m guessing: I can see the form?

2: What is “forms menu”? Is “forms menu" the list on “left-side” of my screen? The right-side is the form.

3: There is no “remove “form name””….

4: I’m on a Mac.

At the right top corner of TurboTax Desktop, there is ether "Step-By-Step" or "FORMS", you can switch from one to the other.

Step-by-step allows you to enter via the interviews.

FORMS lets you see the forms, as if you are entering on a paper return.

Switching to FORMS allows you to view and delete individual forms and documents that have been added.
