TurboTax Business 2016 will not import a TurboTax Business 2015 file.

Business 2016 will not import a file from Business 2015.

Is the file you're trying to import a .pdf or a .tax file?

Are you sure the file you are having it import is the Business tax file?   The Business Edition tax file and the personal tax file both end in *.tax2015 which can be confusing.

What happens when you start a new return?   Does it search your computer and find a *.tax2015 data file?

no, it only imports the data for the business like name, address etc.  no numbers.  I see no difference in business tax and regular personal tax when I go on to log in for turbotax, yet I have both programs.

Please clarify what product you are using.   Are using the dedicated 2016 Business Edition for C-corp, S-corp, partnerships, multimember LLC, etc, which is software installed on your computer.?     And is that the product you used for 2015?

When you said "log in" that's confusing.  I don't know what you mean by "I see no difference in business tax and regular pesonal tax when I go to log in for TurboTax, yet I have both programs."    What does "log in" have to do with it, or are you referring to TurboTax Online; i.e, the website?

I have purchased TurboTax Business 2015 last year, and then this year the 2016 version, both were downloaded and installed on my computer via the source of purchase.  So when I try to find my turbotax business 2015 file online, I only get turbotax which could be for business or personal.  I use both.  Then I use my user names and passwords, and none seem to work for my 2015 file.  They were all online so it is my fault I did not save on a disk.  I go to log in, and and I finally find the 2015.tax file for business, and there is nothing on it but my business info.

And yes they are both for C corp, S corp etc.  They are not for "home and business" which is also available.

The Business  Edition has nothing at all to do with the Online TurboTax website, which is only for personal tax returns.

Your 2015 business tax file will not be in an Online account.  The Business Edition is a desktop-only product and all data files are stored locally on your computer.  Search your entire computer system and any backup external media for the *.tax2015 data file.  It is not in an Online account.

Thank you!  You just made me think..."I guess I did save it".  I opened a few of my thumb drives and there it was!  No label on it...my fault!  I will learn from this!  Now I can feel more confident doing my 2016 returns with the information carried over to 2016.  So thanks again!

I think because the personal one is saved online, I thought the same would be true for the business. ?

A desktop product and the online product are 2 different things and do not "sync".  Personal returns prepared online at the TurboTax website are present in the Online Tax Timeline.   No desktop returns of either kind--Business or personal--are stored in the online account Tax Timeline.   Online TurboTax does have a feature called "My Docs" which can upload any documents from a computer for elective storage purposes, but one would have had to prepare an Online return to have access to that feature.
