TurboTax 2024 charged me for State eFile even though product was purchased specifically said FREE State eFile. Is that legal?

Purchased deluxe version of TurboTax which comes with Federal eFiles as usual, but this version also came with a Free State eFile. Said so. Prepared returns, went for eFile - no hints that efile would cost extra. Final step, State eFile hit paywall.  Product purchased clearly said Free State and Intuit/TurboTax reneged on that promise.  So how do you justify this.

Understand, we will not trust Intuit or TurboTax again.

E-filing fee in desktop software

Did you purchase desktop software with state software included?  They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose.  And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state.  There is an extra $25 fee to e-file the state.  You can avoid the state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.
