TurboTax 2022 Won't Update/Can't eFile

When I launch TTax Deluxe 2022, it runs the update which fails with a 1603 error.

I've updated Win11 today and used the manual installer. The file isw_perrelsuperpatchIS_ttax_2022.521.0101.exe which reports a successful update.

When I launch TTax, it still tries to update. I can bypass the update screen by starting then cancelling the upate. This allows me into TTax.

When I attempt to run the Federal Review, TTax again wants to update itself, again fails, but I've not found a way to bypass this issue in order to proceed w/the Federal Review, and eFile. I don't know if a similar error w/appear for the state review.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

In case this helps anyone else, here is the resolution of this issue

  1. Uninstalled TTax from my computer. Reinstall from CD.
    1. Note to Intuit Support: The TTax purchase is listed in my account, but the download of the installer is broken!

  2. Completed my taxes.
  3. Even though TTax reported that eFile was closed, I clicked through the screens and was able to eFile. This is on 23.10.30. According to the message in my TTax account, eFile should work until 23.10.31.
    1. Again, Intuit Support - this is a bug. TTax should not tell me eFile is not available.

Hope this will help others!

Thanks.

You are too late to e-file.   Your 2022 return must be filed by mail.  Print, sign and date it in ink, and mail it.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

I still need to fix the software to run the checker.

Also, last year I was able to eFile after the deadline.

E-filing is closed for 2022 returns.   You can only file by mail.   If you need customer support with the update:

I know that thwe irs and state accept efiling after october it just seems that turbo tax wont send them. But I was thinking that the deadline was extended to nov 17 2023 by IRS surprised turbo tax doesnt honor this.

Any where else I can get this efile done at?  such as hr block etc...?

TurboTax's entire system is in transition from 2022 to 2023 now.    Users of TurboTax cannot e-file now.  E-filing is closed----(yes, even if you are in CA.)   But you can print, sign and date your return, and mail it --- get it postmarked by the CA deadline.   As for going somewhere to e-file it------if you want to start googling and looking for a paid tax professional who will have to start over and prepare your return and e-file it---you can do that.  TurboTax has no recommendations as to where you can do that or what the cost would be.
