TurboTax 2020 crashes repeatedly when I work on W-2 information. MacOS 12.6.2. Any suggestions? (support sent me here)

How are you entering the W-2 information?  You cannot import 2020 W-2 information.  You have to key it in by hand.

Skip the import section completely ... do not enter the EIN until you get to a later screen  AFTER you choose to enter the info manually.

ok I was able to enter the info manually. But that seems counterintuitive when the application offers to do it. It shouldn’t crash when you enter the EIN (IMHO). User acceptance testing….

@raydavidson156 You cannot import past year W-2's.  You can only import the W-2 for the current year, 2022, into the 2022 tax software.  Past year data is not available for import into the software.  You will not be able to import financial data such as 1099R's,  etc. either.   Data for a 2020 return must be keyed in.

If anyone is still stuck here... Leave your EIN blank, it'll let you move on to the manual entry and won't crash.

Basically, it's trying to see if it can auto-load your W2. The API it uses is not functional anymore, and it does not have error handling to gracefully realize "oh, that system is down" so it just crashes when it expects and answer and instead gets a timeout (or a 503 response that isn't formatted the same way or whatever).

tl;dr: leave EIN blank and hit next, it won't crash
