Hi, I am using TurboTax Deluxe to file my taxes. After completing the calculations, I found that I owe a balance for Alabama state taxes. Everything looked fine before I transmitted the return. However, after clicking "Transmit," a pop-up window appeared asking me to check this entry: Information Worksheet - EF Amount Remitted. It stated that since my return has a balance due, I needed to enter the amount to be submitted with the return. Unfortunately, I clicked too quickly and did not enter the amount remitted. Does this mean that Alabama will not automatically debit the tax payment from my checking account? If so, do I need to make the payment manually online or contact the Alabama Department of Revenue after my e-file is accepted? I appreciate any guidance on what steps I should take next. Thank you!
Taxes are not due until April 15. If you selected a date before that, you can see if the money is withdrawn from your account. If not, pay them.
If you selected April 15 for the withdrawal date, call them. AL is one of the better states to work with so a call to them should verify the withdrawal or need to pay.
