Turbo Tax's "COMPARE TO US AVERAGES" FORM IS HORRIBLE! Average salary/wage $426,574. You got to be joking!!!!!Where does this national average information come from??

Sorry don't know how to take a screen shot and post it here..But if you open any Turbo Tax program click on FORMS, scroll down the Federal return until you get to the last form U.S.AVERAGES.

It would show that much if your income on your tax return had income of $400,000 or more.  The worksheet is based on your tax return.

On my test return my income is $20,000 and the national average shows $25,305

Different people see different averages on that page because it is the average from only a range of tax payers.  See the line right under your name to see the "National adjusted gross income range used below" for your averages.

The US Averages page only shows the average tax return data for taxpayers within the same income range you're in.
