I've been using Turbo Tax for years. This is the first year that I will have to complete one for my son, who is 18 and in college. The only things that will be on it are a 529 distribution and interest received. Can I do this on my TT account or will I need to create a new one for him? Are there any issues connecting my checking account with it to pay any money he might owe?
You will have to create a new online account for your son. You can only do one tax return per TurboTax Online account. However you can use the same e-mail (as long as you have different user names). This comes in handy when you forget your log in information because you can get one email showing all your accounts.
You can pay the balance due with your checking account. The IRS only has issues with money coming from or going overseas.
TurboTax CD\Desktop allows you to e-file up to five federal returns. That may be a cheaper option in the future.
