Using TT 2022 Premier desktop from Amazon, I selected to use my one free state efile on the first return i prepared which was for my grandson. I then choose to mail that state return rather than efile it. I've now prepared a second return for myself and want to use the one free state efile to file it but can't. TT must think I used my one free state efile but I didn't. Is there a way to use my one free state efile now.
Sorry you misunderstood. In the Desktop program you get one free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns. Then each state return (including the first one) is $20 to efile, usually goes up to $25 March 1. Or you can print and mail state for free.
You do not get any free state e-files with the CD/download. You get the state software to prepare state returns for one specific state of your choosing. If you need a second different state program you have to pay to download the second different state.
As for e-filing state returns.....when you use the CD/download software there is always---always---a fee to e-file the state. You can avoid the state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead.

People so often overlook/misunderstand this.
Here ----right from the Amazon site:
. State e-file sold separately.
Free U.S.-based product support (hours may vary). Now that you have reminded me of it, I think I had the same problem last year which was the first time I used the desktop version when a friend informed me I could file up to 5 returns with the purchase of one desktop version. For many years previously I used the online version. I will make myself a note this year so I do not get confused again next year. It would be nice if the literature was clearer in making a distinction between state program download and state efile. And then again maybe I'm just not too bright. Thank you.
