Turbo Tax entering year someone passed before 2023

In the You and Your family section, we have marked the box Passed away before filing this return.  We have entered the date passed away as 9/15/2022 but the system is giving us an error that is requiring a passing date in 2023.  How do we get beyond this as assets were not fully distributed and income is above $600.00.  We have the Turbotax premier version.

Sounds like you need to be doing a 1041  Estate or Trust return, not a personal return for 2023.  2022 should have been a Final personal return for them.

To prepare a 1041 return, you need to buy Turbo Tax Business Desktop program, not to be confused with the personal Home & Business version. Home & Business is just for personal returns that need schedule C for self employment. TT Business is not available to do online or on a Mac. You can buy the Windows Desktop program here,
