You received a letter from the IRS explaining the changes they made to your 2021 tax return to reduce the federal tax refund.  What does the letter indicate?

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.

the IRS changed something. Turbotax gets no info about this. you can wait for a letter of explanation from the IRS or call them

1. Call 1-800-829-1040 between the hours of 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM local time.
2. Press “1” for English or “2” for Spanish.
3. Press “2” for “answers about your personal income taxes.”
4. Press “1” for “questions about a form you have already submitted or a payment or to order a tax transcript.”
5. Press “3” for “all other questions about your tax history or payment.”
6. Press “2” for “all other questions about your tax history or payment.”
7. Do not input your Social Security Number when the recording tells you to.
8. Press “2” for “personal- or individual-tax related question.”
9. Press “3” for “all other inquiries.”
10. Wait to be connected to someone at the IRS.

Some common reasons for 2021 is if you tried to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit (for the 3rd Stimulus 1,400 per person) when the IRS already sent it to you. Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more. Not the amount you already got.

Or you might have tried to claim too much for line 28 Child Tax Credit.

@musterclan highly likely the issue relates to lines 28 (child tax credit) or Line 30 (recovery rebate credit), although $2700 is a little "odd" -

what is on those two line numbers?

how many people listed on your tax return? (you, spouse, dependents)

if there are children, how many under the age of 6 as of 12/31/21 and how many 6-17 years old as of 12/31/21?
