I imported information from Computershare this morning, so it does work.  Your statement makes it challenging to provide you with any help.  In other words, what institution is not working?

If the import function does not work then you can select to enter the form manually:

  1. On the "Let’s import your tax info" screen select "Change how I enter my form"
  2. On the "How do you want to enter your 1099‑R?" screen select "I'll type it in myself"

only institutions that partner with TurboTax can be imported. note that some brokerages use a clearing firm and it's the clearing firm you need to import from.  Otherwise, if the FI s not listed it can't be imported. you can always call the FI to check.

Adding to the good information from Mike9241: Even when you do import the information, you really need to check it thoroughly because it can be inconsistent, especially after after splits, spin-offs, and name or ticker changes.  Also, watch out for cases where the dividends are small enough that it does not trigger a Form 1099, though the income is still taxable.
