TTax Desktop says I have to enter EXACTLY what a 1099-R says, then disallows what it says!

Desktop TurboTax, Windows 11

When I get to the 1099-R for an annuity we have, it says

"Type in the amounts in boxes 1-17 exactly as they appear on *****'s 1099-R."

OK, straightforward enough.  So on the form, box 9a says, "Your percentage of total distribution" and the amount is (exactly) 0%.  So I enter 0.

But when I go on to the next box, TTax clears the 0 and pops up a message saying, "The value entered must be equal to or greater than 0.01"

So what can I do???   I entered exactly what is on the1099-R, and it won't allow my entry.

Anyone else see this?  What can I do?  I suppose I could just skip that box, but what would be the result of leaving it blank?

clear the box to BLANK. The value will not be range checked.

Instructions must be read with common sense.

I would try entering 0.01. It shouldn't make any difference in your taxes.

Well, that's pretty much where I felt I had to come down on it, too.

I have the same issue and it won't accept blank as a response either.  Turbotax still says it's an error.  Any other thoughts?

@randaja Delete the Form 1099-R and enter manually.

I deleted the upload and I'm entering it manually.  However, it says the state tax withheld can't be more than the state distribution, but that is the case on the form.  Thoughts?  It won't let me continue.

If you have state taxes withheld in box 14 of the Form 1099-R then enter the amount from box 1 in box 16.

Thanks, that worked!  Hopefully we won't be flagged since that field doesn't match the 0 on the form.

Thank you!
