TT Shows Carryover of Capital Losses from 2023 to 2024 but None Shown on 2023 Return

I was trying to file my taxes using the Free Version of TT since my financial situation no longer required assistance.  My only income is from SSDI.  When I was progressing through the steps and I don't remember the category maybe Investments it would not let me proceed because it shows I have carryover Capital losses of $1,717 from 2023 to 2024.  I do not see that anywhere on the 2023 return and I have looked at 1099s from Charles Schwab from 2023 and 2022 as well as looking on the IRS website.  I really cannot afford to pay for tax help this year as my youngest daughter had a double lung transplant in Nov 2024 and the medical bills have been staggering.  Thank you.  Gregory

You likely have a capital loss carryover worksheet in your program. You may be able to delete it and that would resolve your issue as follows:

1. Choose the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar

2. Choose Tools

3. Choose the Delete a form option under Other Helpful links

4. Find the Cap Ls Carryover worksheet in the list and delete it

Hi ThomasM125,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and for the information that you provided.

I will certainly give that a try.

Best regards,

There is no Tax Tool nor a tool bar in TT Premium. TT is forcing me to pay for customer service for an error in their system! I did NOT have capital gains losses in 2023. I don't even have crypto! I did NOT sell anything in 2023 and took a loss of 165K.

If you don't see the Tax Tools menu on the left panel, you may be on your Tax Home page. You'll need to click on Review/Edit or Pick up where you left off under any of the tax return topics to completely open your return. From there, you'll see Tax Tools on the left - you may need to scroll because it's toward the bottom.
