TT said the irs rejected return the AGI was wrong. We always use TT shouldn't the algorithm have caught that? Corrected it now how long until the irs accepts the return?

The AGI was wrong because 2 numbers were flipped. We've been using TurboTax for 5 years! Why didn't the software catch that? Why are they telling folks they can file with another tax software, others are being told the have to mail it. This is ridiculous.

No because you may have correctly used the prior AGI. sometimes the problem is with the IRS data base, Other times it's due to late filing so it's not in the IRS records.  if you amend your returns the AGI needed is from the original.    As you surmised Turbotax does not check the prior year's AGI used in the current return against that prior return. Why did you enter it?  it should have transferred when you started 2023 unless you used a different account.

When people have been told to mail their returns it's because of AGI problems that can't be resolved.
