TT 2024 desktop thinks I've activated 3 machines

I only have one MacBook pro.  How can this be corrected?

Apparently other people are activating TurboTax with the product key I purchased from Amazon.  The count is up to 4 today.  I don't know how anyone else got my key, but this activation scheme seems a little awkward and potentially vulnerable.

 

What's worse is the bit of finger pointing going on here.  TurboTax told me that Amazon has sold the same product key to multiple customers.  Amazon denied it.  My position is that Amazon sold me the product that is becoming unusable, so they issued me a refund.  However, somewhere there's a weakness in the security chain and from my position I am unable to tell where it is and who has responsibility to correct it.

 

I just hope this isn't happening to other people!

So it may be happening again!

 

I purchased a new license key. I completely removed TurboTax 24 according to Intuit instructions. I did a fresh download and reinstalled it and activated with the new license key. After the second day, I opened my tax return, and it wants me to activate again telling me there’s already one machine activated on the new license!

 

What is going on?

I did that the first time. TT support told me they couldn’t do anything, and blamed Amazon for selling me a code that others were using.

 

Let’s try something else.

OK, today I opened TurboTax, and the activation count was 2 and I had to activate again.  I don't yet know whether this is a daily thing or what, but it seems that the count matches the number of times I have had to activate:

 

 

So there's something causing TT to request activation from me multiple times!
