This year 2021 if you file your taxes to receive your government issued stimulus, can it be garnished for child support arrears once it becomes part of your tax return?

I haven't received any of my stimulus payments and I'm scared to file taxes if government can garnish stimulus payment with tax return.

Only the first stimulus can be taken for child support.

2 & 3  can not be touched.

@ee-ea - the question wasn't really about the Stimulus, it was really about the Recovery Credits.

Let's say $1200 ends up on Line 30 and then the Refund due on Line 34 is $1500.   And there is back child support owed.

What will the refund be that is NOT garnished? Why isn't it the whole $1500?

Did the IRS state they would not garnish Recovery Credits? Stimulus and Recovery Credits are slightly different animals.....
