The StandardDeduction shows up as 27300 for married filing jointly. My husband is over 68 the over 68 box is checked on 1040. So why is the standard deduction not 28700?

Were YOU still under 65 at the end of 2022?   The software uses the dates of birth you entered in My Info to calculate whether you each get the extra standard deduction amount for 65 or older.

2022 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS

SINGLE $12,950  (65 or older + $1750)

MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $12,950  (65 or older + $1750)

MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $25,900  (65 or older + $1400 per spouse)

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD  $19,400  (65 or older +$1750)

Legally Blind + $1750

I am still under the age of 65.  So do we both have to be over 65 to get the extra standard deduction?

No, you both do not have to be age 65.  The additional amount is per person based on their age.

Your spouse who is over 65 is getting the extra $1400.  You are not 65 yet, so you do not get the extra $1400.
