The program offered a payment option of six months interest-free, but when I asked for that it said something like "you can't ask for that yet" and then it never let me.

I think you misunderstood something. Sorry.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

No, I know there's an IRS Payment Plan option, but this was another one!  Intuit was offering a tax loan with no interest for the first six months.  I'm not imagining this, I promise.  😕

You must be mistaken ... intuit has never and will never to any kind of interest free loan because they are not a financial institution thus they cannot do loans.    See the IRS info on the payment of balance dues ...  https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc202

Short-Term Payment Plans (up to 180 days)

If you can't pay in full immediately, you may qualify for additional time --up to 180 days-- to pay in full. There's no fee for this full payment; however, interest and any applicable penalties continue to accrue until your liability is paid in full. Individuals may be able to set up a short-term payment plan using the Online Payment Agreement (OPA) application or by calling us at 800-829-1040 (individuals). See telephone assistance for hours of availability.

@bh271 in January Intuit often offers an advance loan against your refund.

but if you owe taxes, Intuit does not lend money.

Are you  in California?  There is tax relief for Calif disasters.  You have 6 months to Oct 16, 2023 to file and pay.  But I don't think the Turbo Tax program mentions that.   You just file and pay as normal.  The IRS knows you are extended.

@mvp1784rrwr Not sure what you saw or thought you saw---TurboTax does not offer any sort of interest free six month plan to pay your tax due.
