The only income I had for 2016 is $8,339.00. Do I still need to file a tax return. Me and my wife draw SS, but we are not required to show that as income.

If half the total social security for both of you plus the $8,339 of other income is less than $32,000, none of your social security is taxable and you would not be required to file a tax return unless your income was from a 1099-MISC for self employment.
